Very excited to share our newest reincarnation of the famous wartime waist overalls (also called waist dungarees then) the LD WWII jeans!
Made of raw, sanforized 13.5 oz. 100% Zimbabwe cotton indigo-dyed denim from another one of our favourites, Nihon Menpu in Japan. These jeans are recognizable by its high rise, traditional fit - no frills, as during that time clothing only stuck to only the absolutely-needed minimum specifications and features. Of course they needed to be robust and sturdy nonetheless, as they were used as actual military uniforms and had to be built according and pass rigid standards of the War Production Board of the United States. Here we made use of metal donut buttons and a laurel leaf button for the waistband, that will patina with rust as it ages. The match pocket and crotch don’t have rivets, it’s a one-piece waistband construction, chainstitched riser and back rise, and single-needle outseam construction. Plus hidden details you will see when you get one for yourself.
Own this interesting garment and enjoy the back story behind it!
