This travel jacket is an inspiration taken from the safari jacket for use in the African bush in the mid-1930s, but it even further traces its roots back to the Khaki Drill Uniform of the British Army in the 1900s. A couple of decades later, its practical utility and masculine appeal saw it being worn by Hollywood icons such as Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Clark Gable, Roger Moore, and a host of others. It gained wider prominence when Yves St. Laurent put out a version for women in 1968. Since then, the safari jacket has been considered as one of the most versatile and stylish articles of clothing in a person’s wardrobe.
